Vocational Skills are practical skills that can only be acquired by training and practice.





Vocation skills jobs are jobs that doesn't strictly require formal/University education. Vocation are practical skills. However, some requires professional certification or associate degree.

These are the vocationals skills in high demand with good pay:

Catering/Baking
Catering, baking and related services are vocational skills in high demand with good pay.

Area of specialization includes appetizers and cocktail, Wedding,  special event meal and launch style food.

Caterers earns average salary of $53, 130 per year.

Projected growth for all chefs and head cook is 5% from 2012-2022(U. S. Bureau of Labour statistics  May 2014)

There is also high probability of self employment in catering/baking related skills.

Barbing and Hairdressing(Cosmetologist)
The primary job of a barber is to cut, shampoo, and trim hair. Cosmetologist are human hair care professionals.

The average annual earning of a barber is $25,000(U. S. bureau of Labour statistics may 2015).

There is high probability of self employment as the average income of those that are self employed is $28,000.

The employment forecast for 2014 to 2024 is 10%

Makeup artist
Makeup is a vocational skill in high demand though dominated by women. Most makeup artist are freelancers. They apply makeup and prosthetic to the human body.

Makeup artist are  required in modelling, theatrical, firms, fashion, magazine, Wedding and special ceremony. 

The average annual salary of a makeup artist is $39,000(payscale Jan 2016). 
Job growth rate from 2012 to 2022 is 3.1%

Veterinary Technicians
Veterinary technicians are animal care professionals.

Specialist are found in zoos, animal clinic, rescue league, laboratories, analysis shelters and boarding kernel.

The average pay of a vet technician is $31,000(pay scale, Jan 2016).

The job growth forecast for 2014 to 2024 is 19%. Vet skill is a vocation in high demand with good pay.

Truck Drivers, Caterpillar Drivers and other heavy Duty vehicle Drivers

Heavy vehicle drivers are in high demand as labour supply is far below demand.

Auto servicing professionals are mechanics that specialize in auto care.

Social Media professionals
Social media expert are social media strategist and sale professionals.

Employment forcast for 2014 to 2024 is 6%

Social media job is a vocation because it doesn't requires university certification.

Copywriters
The demand for professional writers is on the rise due to increase in online and print content publishers.

Employment growth forecast for 2014 to 2024 is 2%.

I came across an online research report recently, which found  that 75% of all contents published daily are useless. Excellent copywriters are hard to find.

The work of a copywriter includes written content for advertisement, books, magazine, movie script, songs, blogs and other online and print platform.

The average annual pay is $45,000(payscale jan 2016).

Graphic design and Photography
Graphic designers Create virtual content. The employment growth forecast from 2014 to 2024 is 1%.

The average pay per year is $40,000(payscale Jan 2016).

Photographers capture, store, process and communicate image in digital and non digital form. Employment  growth forecast from 2014 to 2024 is 3%

The average pay per year is 42,000(payscale Jan 2016).

Fitness Trainers
A fitness trainer Leads, motivate and instructs individual or group in fitness exercise.

Fitness training is a vocational skill in high demand with good pay as employment growth forecast for 2014 to 2024 is 8%.

The average pay per year is $57,000(February 2016, data by indeed).

Computer Technician
Computer technician repair computer hardware, reinstall operating system in-case of failure and restore memory in case of attack. 

Job growth forecast from 2014 to 2024 is 12%. It is one of the vocational skills in high demand with good pay.

Average annual pay per year is 42,000(payscale Jan 2016)

Instrumentalist, vocalist(music industry)
Instrumentalist and vocalist are  in high demand in the music industry and churches.

Job growth rate from 2014 to 2024 is 3%.

Average annual pay per year is 38,000(payscale Jan 2016)

Programmers
Computer programmer writes programs in computer language. They are one of the highest paid professionals.

According to U. S. Bureau of Labour statistics, there is no projected employment growth for computer programming job yet.

The job is dominated by men and some of them are freelancers. University degree is required. However, associate degree is also accepted but the work is a practical skill job.

The average pay per year is $59,000(payscale, Jan 2016)

Wood workers
Wood workers use wood to manufacture cabinet and furniture. They specialized in carving and shaving wood. There is no projected growth.

Their work is similar to carpenters but different. Carpenters are mostly found in construction industry.
